Sanskrita Saaradaa — 3

SraSaaradaa Dayaa Deeptih :—
Sanskrita Saaradaa–3.

We start our first lesson in Sanskrit with a few prayers as followed in our Vedic tradition.

1.
Sarwa vighna haram Devam
Sarwa sowseelya daayakam |
Sarwa siddhi pradaataaram
Vanday>ham Gana naayakam“||

“I submit my vandanam to the God who is the Lord of the groups of gods, demigods, angels and so on. He is the disperser of all obstacles, giver of all virtues and dispenser of all accomplishments”.

2.
Umaapatim Sivam vanday
Ramaapatim Harim sadaa |
Seetaapatim bhaje Raamam
Sri Krishnam Rukmineepatim“||

“I always bow to Lord Siva, the Divine Consort of Goddess Uma, and Lord Sri Hari, the Divine Consort of Goddess Lakshmi. I always worship Lord Raama, the Divine Consort of Goddess Seetaa and Sri Krishna, the Divine Consort of Goddess Rukmini.

3.
Sarasvati! namah tubhyam
Varaday! Kaama roopini! |
Vidyaarambham karishyaami
Siddhih bhavatu may sadaa“||

” O Goddess Saraswati! I bow to Thee. O Fulfiller of (righteous) wishes and Who are the source of various mystical disciplines of knowledge such as the ability to assume different intended forms! I am beginning to learn the knowledge of Sanskrit. Please bless me that I may have accomplishment in my endeavour”.

4.
Raamakrisnamaham vanday,
Devesam Saaradaa dhavam |
Deveem Sri Saaradaam vanday
Vidyaa vijnaana Roopineem“||

“I offer my pranaam to the God of all the Gods and the Divine Consort of Saaradaadevi. I bow to the Holy Mother, Saaradaadevi, Who is the embodiment of all academic and experiential knowledge”.

5.
Vanday>ham Vivekanandam
Desikaanaam cha Desikam |
Sarva visva dayaa sindhum
Sarva yoga paraayanam” ||

“I bow to Swamy Vivekananda. He is the Teacher of all the teachers. He is an ocean of kindness for the entire universe. He is the Supreme Source of all Yogas, such as Jnana yoga, Raja yoga, Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga and so on (which exist in the world)”.

After completing this prayer, I want to advise that all our satsang members have to possess the following books either in Sanskrit Devanaagari, or in English or in any other regional languages such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil & so on.

1. Sabda Manjari.
2. Apte’s Sanskrit- English Dictionary(Student’s).
3.Roopa Chandrikaa by Sri Ramachandra Jha (Chowkhamba Publishers).

    Apart from traditional dhyaana slokaas those two(4th and 5th) written on Saradaa Matha and Swamiji by you are equally devotional to render.
