Bhaagavatha Saaradaa — 2

Bhaagavata Saaradaa–2.

The most sacred text Srimad Bhaagavata Mahaapuraana is declared as “the Puraana of all other Puraanas”, “Puraanaanaam Puraanam“. “Puraa poorvasmin bhootam iti” Puraanaam. It means that something that happened in the past is “Puraanam”. Then, “Bhagavatah idam Bhaagavatam“. As this belongs to the Bhagavaan or the Supreme Godhead it is called Bhaagavatam.

Bhaagavataanaam bhaktaanaam vaa charitam Bhaagavatam“.

This is Bhaagavata as it speaks of the life-stories of the devotees of the Lord. In other words, this is hagiography. Some other important aspects of Bhaagavata will feature in our discourse on the book when we enter into it, in one context or the other. We go into it as much as it befits the particular situation.

Thank you. ( to be contd., ).
