KaalaKshepam.
Today we take-up the idea of “KaalaKshepam” for our informal discussion. It’s a compound-word composed of two words namely, Kaala and Kshepam. We know the meaning of “Kaala“, which is time.
Now, let us understand the literal meaning of “Kshepam“. It’s a Sanskrit word derived from the root “Kshipa Preranay” which implies “to place, to throw”. (The words such as Vikshepa, Samkshepa, Kshipani and so on, are derived from this root only). So, we can construe that the whole range of the denotative and the connotative import or drift or signification of “KaalaKshepam” can be from “throwing away time imprudently or profligately or even profanely” upto “spending time wisely or purposefully or even virtuously“.
For an evolving spiritual seeker KaalaKshepam means primarily “Satsangam” such as “Harikathaa KaalaKshepam“. He/She has to carefully and by his/her own intelligent choice spend his/her most
valuable spare time in Naama Smarana of Ishta Daivam, in listening to ennobling music and edifying devotional and philosophical discourses.
When we come across retired people or old persons, one of pivotal points of their favourite topic is “What’s your kaalakshepam?”. Generally the answer is well predictable. It’s usually, “Don’t ask that. Now I’m the busier person after retirement. T.V., What’sApp, facebook, twitter, Internet & “so much to do” stuff”. For this tribe one of my most beloved cousins who’s primarily my long lasting friend, wrote an excellent piece of free verse which reflects our present plight with a sharp sarcasm. It reads something like this when rendered into English:
“Our day dawns with washing our faces with facebook – – – ” Through this write up I request my cousin-friend Sri Balantrapu Kiran Sundar, Chennai, to render his lovely piece into English so that our readers will be immensely benefited by the inner guiding message of the verse. Now I request all of U not to throw away your time wastefully. Make best use of it through Satsang or by establishing good companionship with enlightened persons or good books or good films/music or by using What’sApp, Facebook and so on for Satsang purpose.
Never allow mere “kaalakshepam” to take place in your totally valuable life which is inescapably imprisoned in space-time-continuum.

Unless we deeply understand the root meaning of each word we always go in a wrong path. The beautiful explanation definitely makes one to correct him or her self ito a meaningful direction
I paste below the Telugu original of the free verse mentioned in the above article. I have not so far happened to translate this into English. If some one wants to translate this into English, he/she is welcome to do so:
