The Quintessential Allegory of the Creation of Sri Ganesa :-

Dr. P. Nasant, a cardiologist by profession and a “cordiologist” by disposition, wants me to “elaborate on the spiritual significance of Vinayaka jananam, which l feel is highly metaphorical”. lndeed it is!

All of us are familiar with the story. So, l do not repeat it here. Directly we enter into the portals of the symbolical pattern of the enchanting edifice of this unique story.

Divine Mother Paarvati devi is the mother of the whole creation on account of being the Divine Consort and the inherent Energy-Principle of Lord Viswanaatha or Sankaramahaa deva. Paarvatidevi’s will to have oil and paste of sandalwood-powder mixed flour bath with the support of Her maids is the seed of this story. In this process all the gross and subtle aspects of the five elements are symbolically

involved as explained below:-

1. The earth & the smell elements = Flour+sandal paste.
2. The Water & taste elements= Oil, water & gargling of Her mouth with Mandaakini water in which Bilwa/Tulasi leaves are added.
3. The Fire & the Form= Hot water + Conceiving the form of Vinaayaka in Her mind.
4. The Air & the sense of Touch= The breeze in Kailasa & the sense of the Touch that is being imparted to the oil & the paste by Her.
5. The Space & the Sound= Kailaasa & the conversations & the music & the dance performances at the of the Divine Mother’s taking holy bath.

Whatever SriMaata does is a holy occasion for universal celebration. She conceives an idea and consequently She wishes to give Her Idea a due form and life so that such a Sacred Being can make all

Her creation fully sublime in terms of knowledge of all arts &  sciences, spirituality, yogic-bliss, mystical learning  and above all the ultimate illumination of the souls of the universe. Her will to create such a Celestial Supreme Being is translated into a Boy of five years (to represent all the five gross & subtle elements and also to be able to receive the entire knowledge as is imparted by His Mother, SriMaata) with the help of the “paste” removed from Her body. This particular process of creating the Boy with the paste removed from Her Divine Skin signifies the subtle element of the sense of touch and the
gross element of air or Vaayu whose fundamental law in the universe is “the principle of all movement or motion or activity in an atom or in the whole creation as a single unit“.

Vaayu Sanchaara” is both inward and outward in our life. So She created such a Divine Being Who can function within us as well as outside of us, thereby supporting Her in taking  care of the creation in its entirety. This is a unique occurrence in which the Universal Mother takes the total and exclusive initiative to bring into being a Heavenly Eternal Entity bestowing Him with all the Supreme Knowledge(but

devoid of the experience of It) and kept Him as Her door-guard, which is a peerless prerogative. Now the Boy is endowed with a Woman’s emotional heart and a Child’s freshness of outlook but not
equipped with a man’s intellectual brain. When Lord Sankara is prohibited by the Boy, while entering into His own Abode, the Lord realised the inevitability of including the male intelligence-principle into
His Divine Consort’s sublime creation. As brain rests in head, He replaced the Boy’s head with that of an elephant as this animal is primarily of Vaayu tatwa in the whole creation. This can be observed from the
elephant community clearly that each of them always moves in group by rubbing the body against the other and so on. The process of procreation in them is preceded by this tactile rubbing according to our
ancient saastraas. After empowering the Boy with all qualifications, as wished by His Divine Consort,  to hold the office of according good to the entire universe in the capacity of Divine Leadership, Lord Siva
consecrated the Boy as “Ganesa” as He is none other than Their Own Son. He is the first(aadi) son(putra) of Aadi Dampatis(the First Couple of the universe).
